Hello,
I am currently trying to set up a file server with the following hardware:
Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2 Rev 1.0 Mainboard
AMD 4850e Processor
4GB RAM
Transcend 8GB Flash Drive
WD10EADS harddrives
I have tried to start the Open Solaris 2008.11 Live CD which shows up with verical dotted lines across the monitor screen richt from the Grub Menu so that it is hardly readable. Starting the CD with any of the shown options fails and the error messages are completely unreadable due to the scatter on the screen.
I have also tried to install the Solaris Express CE (Build 105 and 106) but there also the graphic installer fails and the error messages are gone so quickly that I can't read them.
Du you have any information about this problem? In the HCL the Mainboard status is "reported to run" - which is why I bought it in the first place.
Do you have any fix or workaround?
Thanks for your help,
Ansgar Schuetz
PS: there should be no hardware problem, as Windows XP is easy to install and run.
