[indiana-discuss] Trouble upgrading from build 98

I have some additional information to add.
I tried again today after upgrading to the latest Bios (Biostar TF8200 A2+).
On three tries I observed
1. After 15-20 minutes of being hung, I saw a kernel fault. I couldn't grab my camera quick enough to capture it before it rebooted. It did indicate that it was saving the core to a zvol (presumably rpool/dump). How do I extract info out of this?
2. After about 30 minutes, the machine became completely non-responsive. I could no longer ping it and the num-lock key quit working. Could no longer type.
3. Added a -k in case it would crash for me again. After 45 minutes of hung state, I gave up.

Of note, I learned that even after 15-20 minutes of whatever its doing, I can still hear occasional disk accesses.

>From a remote machine, nmap reveals that several ports are open (though I also saw that some of these might not stay open for the full duration). Ssh is on this list, though the port never actually responds to a connection request.
