Are there any error messages logged to /var/log/Xorg.0.log ?

I guess it's a known issue, either this one

    GUI fails to start on OpenSolaris 2009.6 inside VirtualBox

So far, I think the workarounds are:

  - enable cpu virtualization (VT-x or AMD-V)

or

  - reduce video memory to less than 4GB
