[indiana-discuss] Screen resolution after booting new install opensol-11

I hope this is the group to bring concerns about the liveCD and
install matter. If not please direct me.

On a fresh install from official opensol-11 liveCD (Currently shut
down) I saw no screen resolutions above 1024 x 786 (ahh not sure of
the last number) but during install, when booted from the install
media, I was able to set 1200 x 1024 (Again.. not so sure of either
number but 1200 or 1200+ for sure)

Several jumps bigger than the options I now see with the `resolution'
item seen with right click menu clicking in a blank piece of screen.

If the install media was capable of getting 1200+ out of my video
hardware shouldn't the installed OS also be able to get that?

Is there something I can do to increase the resolutions offered?

=====     *     =====     *     =====     *     =====

Now a slightly different angle:

For many yrs running various strains of linux, I've been able to
insert a line like this:
 `Virtual 2048 1560'

Or some other really huge resolution, into /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and
Xorg would give me a virtual screen that big. So big it would not fit
on the monitors finite size. So, bumping the edges with mouse would
scroll more of it into viewing area. I grew to really like that
setup.

Some people find it horribly annoying... which has a side benefit of
keep people off my desktop... hehe.

My hardware was not capable of such hefty resolution but somehow I was
`virtually' supplied that huge desktop.

I wonder if there's a way to recreate that functionality in
opensolaris-11?
