[indiana-discuss] HID remote for OpenSolaris media center?

Hi all.

I'm trying to get a ATI theater remote working as a remote for my
OpenSolaris media center. I have reasons to believe this is possible:

1. The DDU detects the receiver as an HID.

2. On another computer (Toshiba Satellite), Xev responds to each
keypress I make on the remote. (Mind you, the LookupString is often
bogus, e.g. the character pi for the number 4, but the keysyms seem to
be correct).

Problems:

1. While the DDU detects the receiver on the media center box, the
keypresses are not registering in Xev *at all*. A few keys seem to
generate a response in grub, but that's it. I used xorgcfg to modify my
xorg.conf on the media center box to have a second keyboard. It made no
difference.

2. Assuming I can get the media center box to recognize the input from
the remote, the LookupString bogusity still makes the remote useless.

Any tips/ideas as to what I need to do in order to get the media center
box to simply acknowledge the keypresses?

W.r.t. the LookupString/mapping issue, I'm happy to RTFM, but I've no
clue as to what the relevant docs are. Therefore hints on this front
would also be greatly appreciated. :-)

Thanks very much in advance! Take care.
