Ah, I missed the obvious.. here is what I would expect that one has to
do.. (though i haven't verified yet..)
pfexec pkg install gcc-dev sunstudioexpress SUNWlynx SUNWmysql51
svcadm enable mysql:version_51
pfexec su -
export PATH=/opt/SunStudioExpress/bin:/usr/mysql/5.1/bin:$PATH
export LANG=C
perl -MCPAN -e 'install Bundle::DBD::mysql'
