Simple steps to create a full-install of OpenSolaris 2009.06 snv_111a
(as much complete as SXCE, as possibl, but o p e n) :
#1.) wget http://genunix.org/distributions/indiana/osol-0906-111a-x86.iso
#2.) cdrecord -v -eject dev=N,N,N driveropts=burnfree osol-0906-111a-x86.iso
#3.) Perform a default GUI based LiveCD driven HDD installation (1GB
Ram / 20GB HHD minimum recommendations).
#4.) pfexec pkg set-publisher -P -O http://pkg.opensolaris.org/dev dev
#5.) pfexec pkg unset-publisher opensolaris.org
#6.) pfexec pkg refresh
#7.) pfexec pkg install entire
#8.) pfexec pkg install redistributable
I cannot mention all the goodies, that's beyond the scope of a small email.
I'm really impressed.
Goood job!
Thanks to everyone involved.
Please continue your good work.
The next time somebody complains about "OpenSolaris is a a complete
failiure" or "total desaster", lets punch him with the existing facts.
I agree with OSUNIX that we all should support a united distro. But
IMO this has to be OpenSolaris yyyy.mm .
And all the other 3rd party distros can (and should!) peacefully
compete and co-exist, rather than abandon themselves.
"The best of OpenSolaris" already exists ...
OpenSolaris2009.06 is a fast growing OpenSolaris technology based
distribution. Its strength lies in strong community leadership driving
great open source technology.
Nice future guaranted :))
Cheers
