Legacy USB support stuff. These messages can be ignored. They tend to
go away if you disable "Legacy USB Support" in the BIOS. But that can
cause USB keyboards to not work on some motherboards.

You need to edit the file /boot/grub/menu.lst as mentioned by Glenn.
The screen does not look sharp probably because Xorg is not acquiring
the Laptop
LCD's native resolution. What is the graphics card ?
