Grumpf... it seems the AT&T mailserver rejects all emails which contain
a *.gif image (it is archived under
http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/ksh93-integration-discuss/attachments/20060511/8e0401f0/ksh93r_multiline_input_problems.gif)
... see attached bounche email... ;-(
