FWIW, I'm going to wait for this Makefile discussion to reach conclusion
before looking through the updated files. However, scanning the
responses, I suspect I'm going to make most of the same requests Jim has
made. In particular, it's incredibly important that ON's existing
Makefile conventions are adhered to when there isn't a compelling reason
to break with them -- where "compelling" means that it really cannot be
reasonably made to work, rather than just personal preference.
