Because the style guide says so:

Rather than just having the style vary randomly across the source
base, I think we'd all prefer to have some consistency here. That's
the point of having a style guide.
If you _disagree_ with that style guide, then write a new one, and get
folks to adopt it. (That sounds like a discussion for
opensolaris-code, not this list.)
