This is very good news for all of us fighting the latest Intel chips that are becoming prevalent in our laptops. I think wificonfig/inetmenu does an acceptable job, but most Linux OS installations I've seen have gone beyond this into a nice network selection tool integrated into the desktop (things like Network Manager) along with keyring support to remember/secure key information. I haven't read the new proposal, but I'm hoping that it embraces the latest trends in simple user interfaces.

I haven't been able to load my new Z61 Thinkpad with Opensolaris because of a few minor issues, like no-wireless support, but I sure would like to. :)
