Hi,
I had the same problem a few weeks ago. With S10 U2 I got it to work by installing the SUNWcry packages from www.sun.com/download. I believe it will work with the Sun-released Solaris Express too. I wouldn't be so sure for Solaris Express Community Edition, as this may contain more bleeding edge (i.e. incompatible) features.
Worth a try. Also be warned that WPA2 is not yet supported by ath.
