Thanks. It doesn't happen every time and I can get it to pass most of the time if I get into the bios and exit prior to the boot. This gives credence to the possibility of the bus state is setting it off since entering the bios usually does a full system reset.

I'm going to try and add the -e option suggested by Casper (we all seem to be kepping him very busy) to the multiboot to see if it gives me any clue.

There are some other funky things that happen as well. Shutting down Solaris puts the ATI card in 800x600 resolution, rather than the default 1024x768 VGA. I'm just going to work my way through these one at a time.
