[laptop-discuss] Tecra 8100 problem loading Windows XP

Hello,
     I am new to this forum. I was given a Toshiba Tecra 8100 by a friend. In nice condition. It is a Pentium III, 500MHZ, 256Megs of RAM and a 12 Gigobyte Hard Drive. It was running Windows 2000, but seemed sluggish, The hard drive was more than half full with Video Games and such.
      I decided to clean install Windows XP-PRO. It booted from the CD, Formatted the Hard Drive, Loaded all files and prepared for installation.It rebooted and began to install. A little more than half way into the install, the laptop froze. After a few minutes, I shut the laptop down and restarted. It bagan to install again, then froze in exactly the same place. I've installed XP several times and never had this problem.
       Anyone have any suggestions?
