Sorry Casper, (and everyone else) I didn't mean to sound like I was complaining!
I've been feeling the pain a bit lately because I bought a new laptop and found that X, wireless, power management and sound didn't work on it.
Now xorg 7.2 is in Nevada, X works great. Hopefully wireless is not too far away, and I don't honestly care whether the sound works or not.
I've read your posts on the problems of implementing power management on dual core CPUs, and it's quite easy to see why that isn't yet supported. So, I'm not complaining there either - I know someone's looking at it, and I know that it's hard.
WPA, and this particular driver have been "coming soon" for a long time now, which I guess is why people are a little frustrated that we've still not seen any evidence of them. I know the people doing the work are busy enough, but some kind of "x kind of works, but y is hard because of z" type post would be cool. In fact, I saw something like that on here the other day, related to the 3945 driver, and it was greatly appreciated. WPA update anyone? ;-)
Of course, the real problem with lacking WPA is that more often than not we wish to connect to someone else's WPA-only network, so downgrading to WEP, or implementing ipsec, just aren't options.
