Alan,

It looks NDIS page need to be emphasized with some comments like: Current
NDIS/Solaris toolkit was only developed/tested for Broadcom BCM43xx wireless
chipsets, before it is first time available on OpenSolairs.

Historically, it is only Broadcom that hasn't ever open wireless spec/driver
reference codes to open source community. To support BCM43xx 802.11a/b/g
chipset under solaris, we have to porting NDIS toolkit from Freebsd.

The NDIS toolkit you got only implemented the Windows(r) API(s) that are
required by Broadcom Windows(r) driver by Solaris/ndisapi module. To support
other ethernet chipset, ndisapi module need to be expanded to cover what
Windows(r) driver required, the start point should be from subr_ndis.c,
subr_ntoskrnl.c, subr_hal.c.

Till now, there are a couple of native wireless drivers have been
developed/qualified from Sun, except BCM43xx and some other vendors like
SIS, TI... So, it will be very great, if any developers from community could
show hand on expanding NDISwrapper to cover these chipsets, and share the
fantastic experiences, new findings to us all.

To me, most of NDIS work should be focus on BCM43xx within a certain time
frame.

Thanks,

Mikore
