Yes, the 17" MacBook Pro rev 3 models have 1920x1200 as an option. One
thing to note, although not worthy of remembering cause it won't help as
we're talking x86 here, is that Apple offer 1440x960 displays, such as
the G4 Powerbook, but nowadays it's 1440x900. Personally I would had
benefited from the 960 vertical since I use VMware. My friend had a
Dell 3 years before his 15.4" MacBook that could run 1920x1200
resolution, although of course you get a nice stinky ATI card with the
deal. ATI is the norm in notebooks of that age, but they are on the
decline, although Intel mostly takes the cake when it comes to brand new
laptops at large.
Ironic since GMA and Intel Extreme graphics are not suited for Vista
Home Premium due to amount of VRAM, yet vendors keep pushing them out.
It matters why? 90% of the desktop world continues to use Windows, and
most vendors phased out XP. An upwards of $30 or more billion dollars
(USD) are made in the gaming industry, it's an indication of vendors
getting cheap even though price and demand are up. We were discussing
this though, you're hard pressed to get everything you want in a
notebook. Style, power, NVIDIA graphics, Atheros wireless, gigabit,
15+" screen, 64-bit capability, under ~$2200-2400 USD. I opted for a
MacBook Pro (rev 3) at a grand total of $2600 USD with tax, wasn't a bad
deal, also another OS to do testing on. I inquired about rebates, and
had ordered it the first day it shipped at 6:00am, so I saved $100 and
got it fast.
