Thanks. That was the problem. I exported a full disk and was able to install. The reason I was trying a slice was because when I had initially exported a whole disk and tried to jumpstart the ldom I found that I couldn't change the partitioning within the domain.

So this time I partioned the disk as needed before exporting and jumpstart succeeded.
