We'd already thought of that. :-)
The bottom line is that no, Sun can't allocate funds to a 3rd party
that exercises control over it. Something about accountablity to
shareholders, etc.

Agreed, although I don't think face-to-face meetings will be a common
event. It'd be nice to put (real) faces to names, and as someone else
pointed out, nothing can replace in-person social interaction as a way
of getting to know people.
Which reminds me: many thanks to Keith for his kind offer, but I'd
have to decline. I don't think that anyone on the OGB should have
to be out of pocket because of their involvement. (My position on
this might be influenced by my own dire financial situation...)
I think that having OpenSolaris.org as a spepate legal entity is a
fine long-term goal, but there's a LOT to do before we can get there.
