Why? How does such a situation harm the community or detract from
the contribution? Does "getting paid" automatically invalidate your
efforts? If the employer was some other company, would you feel
the same way? How about if it was IBM instead of Sun? Or a small
company that was entirely focused on OpenSolaris as their business model?
If someone puts their heart and soul into OpenSolaris, it is immaterial
to me whether they are being paid to do so or not. In fact, for the long
term success of this effort, I'd think that that is exactly the thing
we need to promote, and this well intentioned distinction will end up
being harmful to the community.
Exclude those who are making the decisions and allow everyone else.
