============
1 Community Guidance Plan Proposal
On behalf of the future participants, I would request that the OGB
review the following proposal, which will help to properly guide new
participants into the community.
==
1.1 Proposal
Apply strategic, organized changes to guide participants into our
discussions, and community structure.
==
1.2 Current Problems
1- The current position of the opensolaris-discuss list's introduction
to the community is symbolizing an importance which isn't desired. Our
community's growth is adversely affected by this structural position.
2- Cross-posting within opensolaris-discuss to other communities is not
a positive reinforcement for our community.
3- Project and Community creation proposals are being displayed within
communities other then the proposed sponsor community. Proposal support
should be expressed within the sponsoring community.
==
1.3 Proposed Actions
1- Reposition the opensolaris-discuss list (only) into alphabetical
order on the discussion listing. Optionally, opensolaris-help could be
moved into the top spot. Doing this/these will allow the readers first
experience be of a educational, and less pressured approach.
Opensolaris-announce and -help are really the most important areas of
information 'for a new participant.'
2- Alter the mailing-list engine to allow the restriction of
opensolaris-discuss from being carbon copied with any other list in the
address area. Doing this will help restrict the amount of overflow into
other communities if the leaders deem necessary.
3- Only after the creation of the project or community, the
Opensolaris-announce list should be used to gather communication,
volunteers, and activity into the sponsoring community(if project) or
newly created community.
All planning should take place within the sponsoring community. If the
proposal is in developing stages, a simple statement can be expressed to
gain help from 'relevant' communities.
*Example* We are proposing a project within the Desktop Community to
bring the BSoD to OpenSolaris, if you wish to show your support, please
visit us our proposal within the Desktop Community. */Example*
===============
I have built the above proposal out of the discussion prior to this.
Please feel free to comment and make suggestions. I would really like to
see the community be a little easier to navigate for new-comers, and
make things a bit more fluid for existing residents.
Thank You (Mahalo)
