IMO, the -discuss and -code suffixes were poorly chosen. Mailing lists
should have a scope built into the name that evokes the topics that
are open to discussion. For that reason I prefer "-dev" (which stands
for development, including both code and non-code contributions) and
"-use" (which serves as a users self-help forum).
