I hope that I wouldn't push you into a situation where you'd have to do
substantial work on third-party code. That's certainly not my goal.

At this point, I'd like to know why -- that's been missing from this
discussion, and I can't make a decision in good conscience without it. If
this was explained in the pre-inception, it needs to be explained again,
because there's no record of that discussion.

Many projects delivering open source code want to deliver multiple versions
of things, and it's almost always a bad idea, and they almost always don't
do it. So no, this is a conversation the ARC has had many times in the
past.
