I have as well. What we need is some sort of an integrated mount
system -- allowing ZFS to do mounts on its own and out-of-order with
respect to the rest of the system has certainly caused problems in
certain situations.
However, I think a better place to discuss this would be the
smf-discuss list (since you're proposing to use SMF to address the
dependencies) and the zfs-discuss list (as many of the issues were
surfaced by ZFS's unique design).
The opensolaris-arc list is intended for architectural reviews of
proposed projects, and we need one of those first before proceeding
here.
