I'm almost happy with the response to the encryption part, I don't 
understand why the upstream developer chooses to use weak salt selection 
though and this really needs to be fixed - why is it so hard to use 
/dev/random for the salt and store it with the backup files ?

I don't understand what is happening for ACL and extended attributes, is 
the case saying that the backups are really going to be cpio archives ?
