The problem is that RAW isn't a standard format. It's dumping all the
information the sensor receives into the file, hence when new sensors
get in the market their RAW files are different than the supported
ones.
I'm very impressed how projects like dcraw, and my personal favorite
ufraw can keep up to date. The vast majority of camaras that are not
newer than a few months (or just the same sensor as a previous model)
are supported.
I personally, not see any problem maintaining the code of this apps.
But I would suggest adding ufraw to the team. ;) Very useful and easy,
specially when used as a GIMP plugin.
