terminal information database to maintain ... right?

It seems like a pretty minor feature with a long tail, but if it's
what you really want, then I'll give in.

Probably so ... but I can see mutt being useful even without a stable
user interface on it, because it's normally driven directly by humans
who can (presumably) read the documentation when things don't turn out
as expected.  Fetchmail and procmail are normally used inside scripts
and buried in the bowels of someone's personal system configuration,
and thus breakage is most unwelcome, no matter the source.
