Since we don't have source packages, what does the above mean?

The various man pages have text that reads: 
"To view the license terms, attribution, and copyright for amsn, see
/var/sadm/pkg/SUNWamsn/install/copyright."
which is not correct for severals reasons, the major one being that
the file won't exist when installed via IPS.
