4. Technical Description
In "ZFS Boot Support" (PSARC/2006/370), we introduced a new
ZFS property value, canmount=noauto. We would like to
integrate this new feature before the rest of ZFS boot. This
project (marked "closed approved automatic") proposes just
that.
The canmount=noauto feature, which was already reviewed and
approved as part of 2006/370, can be integrated in a Minor
release of Solaris, and 2006/370 is now dependent on this
case.
These changes would be integrated as fixes to CRs 6661070 (need
canmount=noauto option for datasets to allow mount point to be
set, but no mount done) and 6664570 (need support for
canmount=noauto in smf scripts). These enhancements to zfs
are necessary for Indiana and are not dependent on any other
aspects of zfs boot support, and thus can be integrated separately.
