gcc's been there and done that - we're just waiting for the Sun compiler
to decide that interface stability is something important to us.

(gcc uses its attribute syntax, not pragmas, but since it's out there and
 in use, we have to follow suit or lose all the data in the existing open
 source projects using gcc's attributes.)
