If they're there, they're pretty well hidden in the mindless invective.
And frankly, it's not clear from reading the blog entry that he has ever
actually _used_ Solaris 10; he took a course on it, but to me it's very
suspicious that he "doesn't have a Sol10 machine online" to show the
output of a particular D script -- and that the D script itself that was
copied verbatim from my recent ACM Queue article. And speaking only for
DTrace, his attack on D is completely ill-informed, showing a fundamental
misunderstanding of the constraints on the problem. I don't object to not
understanding the problem that we solved -- but one should be careful about
throwing around words like "half-baked", let alone "CRAPPY" and "UGLY"
(yes, in all caps), when weighing in on something that one understands so
little...
To sum, I would borrow from Dennis Ritchie's anti-forward from the "UNIX
Hater's Handbook": this blog entry is like excrement -- it may contain
some nutritional nuggets, but it is hardly a tasty pie...
