It would be great to see Java provide easy access to all the major sources of statistics -- DTrace, kstat, SNMP and procfs (may need someone to write a procfs interface - I haven't checked if one exists). In which case, one new possibility would be to write a Java SymbEL interpreter to run SE Toolkit scripts - that would be awsome. :-)
