OpenSolaris Operations Engineer

Sun Microsystems has a unique opportunity for a Unix Systems 
Administrator with strong scripting skills!

We have an immediate opening for a pro with at least 2 years of Unix 
Systems Administration experience to join our OpenSolaris team.. You 
will be joining the team that owns the public opensolaris.org website. 
In this role, you will be responsible for the tasks related to 
supporting the infrastructure that runs the website

This is much more than a traditional sysadmin position for a number of 
reasons. Development builds are run on the infrastructure machines, and 
the functionality/capabilities of the site are expanding that will 
require operational planning/support. This team also owns the web 
applications that run the site.

You will be involved in investigating infrastructure issues as well as 
diagnosing the problems and implementing real solutions.

In this position, you will:

*Perform traditional sysadmin duties: machines upgrades, backups, 
trouble shooting.
*Investigate problems and implement solutions.
*Help plan for expansion.
*Provide site/machine support.
*Learn Solaris internals and web application and website architecture.
*Write scripts to automate data collection and other transactions that 
are currently manual.


REQUIREMENTS:

*2 Years of relevant experience
*BS CS, Engineering or other relevant course of study
*UNIX administration experience
*Shell scripting experience
*Python or Perl

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
*Solaris System Administration knowledge, specifically Solaris 10 or 
higher (i.e., Solaris Express)
*Solaris server install/upgrade
*Solaris volume management/ZFS
*Mailman
*Java *SSH *Web applications
*System monitoring software (e.g., Nagios)
*Mercurial
*SpamAssassin
*Remote Console Experience (aka LOM, service processor, SP)
