OSCON Overview
==============

This year Sun is a Diamond Sponsor of OSCON,  O'Reilly's 7th annual Open 
Source Convention being held at the Oregon Convention Center,  Portland 
Oregon, August 1-5th. This year the agenda explores three deep trends 
affecting open source: the commoditization of software, network-enabled 
collaboration and software customizability.

Sun's onsite activities during OSCON feature a booth where Sun will host 
a "presentation theater" and show floor lounge. Several of Sun's Open 
Source projects are participating at the conference, including the Open 
Source program office, OpenSolaris, Glassfish, NetBeans and JXTA.  This 
is the first major event since Opening Day for OpenSolaris, and so we're 
expecting a lot of interest.

The OpenSolaris team is hosting a CAB Meeting, tutorials and BOF 
sessions during the conference and also making general session 
presentations that will provide the opportunity to educate and inform 
the open source community on the exceptional tools and technologies in 
OpenSolaris, and to attract more developers to OpenSolaris.org.

Overview of activities includes Keynotes and OpenSolaris experts 
presenting:

 * Free Tutorial: OpenSolaris Development with Dynamic Tracing (DTRACE)

 * Open Session: Opening the DTrace Kimono (Bryan Cantrill)
 * Open Session: Women in Open Source (Industry panel: Claire Giordano)
 * BOF: OpenSolaris (Hosted by Liane Praza)
