I've had plans to try to arrange one on back burner for a while
now (since last NOvember's ApacheCon, to be precise), and I think
it would be a GREAT idea.  I even registered a domain that I think
would be suitable: SolarisCon.com.

Agreed, although I would also include "Solaris" in addition to OpenSOlaris.
