Well, you could try something like :

"OpenSolaris : all the stability of BSD, all the features
of Linux, more innovation than both put together."

And at some point, I'd like to add, "all the ease of use of the Mac and better 3rd party support than Windows" and I'd be delighted. [ if you're going to piss off one group of OS-users, might as well do it in an even-handed way ] Of course, I can't yet add those extra phrases, but I've every confidence we'll get there soon.

I suspect though, that such an approach would likely alienate a lot of audiences before I've even got going. The best thing I've found, is, depending on who I'm talking to, that sometimes it's best to just casually let people discover I'm running OpenSolaris.

I was at a wedding a few weeks back, uploading photos to my laptop in the hotel reception the morning after, via USB card-reader - when someone asked "That's not Linux is it ?" I said no, and promptly wandered into a rather gentle, live demo of SMF and DTrace -- they were more than a little impressed, and left planning on downloading Solaris Express as soon as they could (Yes! Mission Accomplished!)

My point is, you don't have to be in people's faces all the time when you're selling OpenSolaris : sometimes it's best to just let the OS do the talking...

That said, having a good story to tell is a useful bit of ammunition to have, as I mentioned a while back over at :
