Tim ... we have some articles like this on the site. We engaged O'Reilly 
early in the pilot program to do some profiles and technical (magazine 
style) articles for us. There are 8 articles at this link: 
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/articles/
I still have three more pieces from them in review and will post them at 
some point. However, there was never much interest in these articles or 
in producing articles like this for the community. Perhaps as the 
community grows and diversifies, more interest will grow. We are 
certainly open to the idea.
