[osol-mktg] Re: [osol-discuss] OpenSolaris logo font?

My font response was in answer to the font question that was asked, not intended to be a response to logo usage.

The logo can NOT be used freely. There are the fan buttons that can be used freely (and they are pretty cool in my opinion). The restricted and monitored use of trademarks is not unique to Sun, in open source or otherwise. Pick a project and go see what their trademark guidelines are, you'll see that they are all pretty similar. The guidelines are intended to protect the integrity of OpenSolaris. Something that everyone in this community should WANT to do.

The fan buttons aren't covering everything we need/want. I have a proposal in to get a program for "community projects" since the fan buttons relate more to individuals than to groups, and for OpenSolaris Distributions (not sure what wording we'll use - suggestions?). Does that solve this problem? Is there something else you are looking for?
Sara
