Is even a Mac _that_ painless?  While a lot of needless
annoyances could indeed be simplified, do you really think
you would do yourself a service even if it _were_ (sort of)
possible to be that...[searching for a nice word] uninvolved?
That is, there will always be choices that one could make
better if one were involved and informed than if one
just took the defaults (however reasonable they might
attempt to be for the majority of cases).  And there will
probably always be possibilities (add-on hardware or additional
functionality of some sort) that are supported, but not to the
level of being painless.  Even if out-of-the-box were to become
usable for most cases, if you want to go past that, you'll have
to be prepared to learn _something_ about the tools you use.
