It was a pretty good show, but nothing surprising. I've been to three
OSBCs. It was a bit smaller than last year, it seemed, but others
disagreed. Schwartz announced GPL for OpenSPARC in his keynote, which
seemed pretty popular and sparked some hallway conversations. Sun's Tim
Bray and Bill Vass did press/analyst interviews and participated on some
panels.

I didn't run any meetings or anything; I was just there to lurk the
halls and talk to people -- an activity I highly recommend, by the way,
even if you aren't doing any sessions or BOFs. People do notice.

I found a moderate level of interest in OpenSolaris, as well as the
normal brain dead sarcasm about Sun in open source. OpenSolaris came up
multiple times in multiple sessions, too. Clearly, more people knew
about us this year. But it was a business show, not a developer
conference. Lots of execs in suits pitching products, and more lawyers
than I could count.

Oh, the wireless absolutely sucked but the food was great. I took some
pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jimgris/sets/72057594065194745/
