Yes, these highlights are definitely more marketing oriented and the
report is designed for reporting up to Anil Gadre...sooo...
I think the newletter that openoffice publishes is along the lines
you're suggesting...It's not rocket science, but it does require *time*
and dedication. A badly writtten newsletter is worse than no newsletter
at all. I like the idea, but unless we have a dedicated *and qualified*
person to produce it, we're flirting with danger.
Also, good to keep in mind that Sun has just consolidated several
newsletters... This might not apply to OpenSolaris.org/news (ohh, I like
that name...) but it does certainly open an opportunity for us because
they just "consolidated" [read: EOL'd] the Solaris Developer newsletter.
It's now "incorporated" into the SDN newsletter through links. So
there's a readership of approx 3,000 readers that subscribed to that
newsletter that could conceivably be interested in this content, if well
produced.
Something to consider, and not too lightly!
