   I have burned and used CDRW/DVDRW media hundreds of times while working
   with BeleniX LiveCD. BTW did you know OpenSolaris distributions can 
boot the
   complete OS from CD/DVD R/RW ?
   Check out SchilliX, BeleniX, Nexenta and marTux LiveCDs.

   You simply have bad hardware or bad media.
