Hello,
I've tried to have a look around for some wallpapers but I didn't find any. So I have made some. Those wallpapers shows some basic features of opensolaris and its community. Solaris Community pack 1 includes at this time 2 wallpapers. Hope that you will like them.
If anybody wants to help me with it, please contact me and I will give you sources in .*xcf, details are included on a webpage. All my process with opensolaris artwork are on www.lasicka.cz/opensolaris

Greeting,
wallpapers are very nice, I like transparent intricacy, it's very clear and nice.
Don't you know what "font-family" is SUN using for opensolaris trademark.Do you?
I didn't find any transparent logo in good resolution which I needed for my pictures.

That's a complicated question. At the moment, there's restrictions on
the usage of the OpenSolaris trademark.

You should drop a mail to Ben, Rich & Sara if you need access to the
word mark.
(I had the same questions last year, after producing these: I've got the
logo blurred out now, just in case - you can see those images still at
http://www.netsoc.ucd.ie/~timf/os-images/
- didn't get around to taking the idea much further though...)

I don't think anyone knows really.
You need to ask a marketing type person for a large scale logo and then
crop around it or find a way to layer it in.
Check with Sara Dornsife or Laura Ramsey

geez ... is there going to be an OpenSolaris Inc. any time soon with
full time staff and its own budget ? It seems to have plenty of lawyers
in place already.

I love that one. Really, do you have a full res version laying about
without the blurred smudged OpenSolaris logo ?
You would think the people at Timex would be more concerned.
Then again, who knows.

Thanks! I'd rather hang on for the logo guidelines to stabilize, so
until then,
http://www.netsoc.ucd.ie/~timf/os-images/zx81-opensolaris_large.xcf
is the original 11mb 2272x1704 Gimp source, with a layer removed for the
logo.

FWIW, I think some of those would have been much better home page graphic
splashes than what eventually ended up there.
Nitpick - any reason why the fonts are different on the 2 columns of code?

Ack. Mea culpa - I'd forwarded those guys the wrong version of the
source file, where I'd been messing about with the font size, and had
forgotten to revert my changes.
So, the reason the fonts look different in the logo on the front page is
completely my fault!! I've forwarded on the correct version.

The Ohio Linux Fest (http://www.ohiolinux.org/), a free one day conference and event for Linux and the Open Source community, is happening September 30 in Columbus, Ohio. I see that Sun is one of the gold sponsors (too bad they couldn't have been a platinum sponsor).
I'll be there at my organization's (LOPSA, the League of Professional System Administrators, http://lopsa.org/) booth, which based on the booth layout I saw backs onto the Sun booth. Is anyone from Sun going to be there representing OpenSolaris?

Hi Stephen,
I have not heard of this event, but I would love to send you some
OpenSolaris Starter Kits to hand out...either in your booth...or to give
to the Sun folks who are there to distribute? What do you think? How
many people usually attend?

Cool. I won't be able to send 1000. Do you think 100 would be

The schedule for the 2008 Tech Days has not been planned yet. That will
happen in the May-July timeframe. If you are interested in hosting an
OpenSolaris Day in Moscow this year, I'd be happy to check with the
folks here to see if we can support it.

I see the Sun Tech Days slides from the Seattle event are posted on developer.sun.com/techdays, but it doesn't look like the OpenSolaris Day slides were included. Does anyone know if those are still upcoming? I've been waiting to get my hands on the performance and observability presentation!
Thanks,
Matthew

Right - the slides Stephen mentioned, linked on the marketing pages
were pointers to a machine inside SWAN. I've copied those slides onto
opensolaris.org, so now everyone can read these!
(I'm in the process of adding them to the talks & presentations page
at http://opensolaris.org/os/community/os_user_groups/os-presentations/)
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/marketing/events/techdays/seattle/presos/
is now correct.
Hope this helps!
cheers,
tim

Matthew,
OpenSolaris day is an "adjunct" event, not technically part of Tech
Days. Linda Bernal and the OpenSolaris Day team have created an area on
the website with all the OpenSolaris Day details. You can find the
presentations from Seattle at
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/marketing/events/techdays/seattle/
, and details about the other events (including links to the
presentations used at those events, which may vary slightly) at
http://opensolaris.org/os/community/marketing/events/techdays/ .
Thanks,
Karyn

Hi all,
I've been waiting to see OpenSolaris Day in Korea and finally it comes true.
btw, I found that it needs to be updated a little bit information on this community.
1. add register today! link just next to "Seoul Korea...." in
"OpenSolaris World Tour Cities and Dates"(http://opensolaris.org/os/community/marketing/events/techdays/).
link is going to be hooked with this link(http://kr.sun.com/developers/techdays)
2. Agenda will be same across every other cities. so it might be good to have same introduction page like (http://opensolaris.org/os/community/marketing/events/techdays/buenos_aires/)
I can't figure out who is resposible for updating this page. so if u guys know the right person, please forward this message to them.
Thank you.

Hi Jay,
Linda Bernal is updating the OpenSolaris World Tour pages. I've copied
her on this note. We'll get this handled. Thanks for letting us know.
