I'm assuming this means "the activity will be held out of doors".

May evenings in Santa Cruz can be chilly since much of the city is
spread out along the beach.  Last year, the hoodies were great, but
not really sufficient once the sun had gone down.  Depending on
your tolerance for cold and how 'active' the activity is, a
windbreaker might be enough.  Being a cold-wimp myself, I'll bring
a light jacket.
