[sam-qfs-discuss] Allocating large buffers

What is the status of bug 6334803 related to problems allocating large
contiguous memory buffers for I/O as documented in the SAM 4.6 release
notes at, http://docs.sun.com/source/819-7938-10/index.html.

We have seen this on a fully patched S10U4 X4600 with 16GB of RAM, which
calls in to question the recommended workaround of increasing the system
memory to 4GB. Admittedly, our observations of this problem occurred
outside of SAM when we where performing lower level system benchmarking
and tuning of the st driver, but I am now concerned it will happen in
production if there is sufficient memory pressure on the system. It is
also disconcerting to note that opensolaris has it marked as "Will Not Fix" at,
http://bugs.opensolaris.org/view_bug.do?bug_id=6334803

Thanks.
