Stuart,

For the benefit of others, we are talking about this bullet
from the WWWW (W4) guide:

24. Mixed architecture (SPARC with x64) multi-reader configurations
are not supported.

This is currently not on the road map.  We would need to make
QFS endian neutral since all readers access the metadata directly.
For shared QFS, we handle mixed architectures via byte-swap of the
metadata when it goes over the wire.
