Yes. With same laptop booting in XP, i can connect by wireless card.
Booting in SXDE, i can detect the Host AP with "wificonfig scan" but .

I left the laptop in my "home sweet home", but i know that "physical" is up (online and default) and "nwam" is down.

I made the test with NIC unplugged and "ifconfig rtl0 down", tonight I will try with "unplumb".
