This is more of a licensing issue rather than technical. Java on
OpenSolaris
requires the C++ runtime libraries from Sun Studio. These are not yet
licensed for redistribution with a non-SUN OpenSolaris distro, though
   they are working on it.

BeleniX comes with a simple process to fix this once installed to
harddisk.
Just follow the steps (also mentioned in the BeleniX FAQ):

   1) Download the current SUNWlibC patch #119964 . It is a compressed
file with the extension ".Z" or ".zip"

You can download it from http://sunsolve.sun.com
   (go to the Patch Portal)

   2) Execute /usr/bin/patchlibC <filename>

After you do this you are all set to install and use the JDK.

Should not be too much of a problem.

You can try though you will be missing some of the latest software in
BeleniX. You can grab a lot of stuff from Blastwave but they may not
be the current revisions, especially GNOME, KDE.

If you wish to build OpenSolaris source code then you'd need Solaris
Express. We have yet to test this on BeleniX.
