[ug-bosug] Introduction and Solaris Services help please

Hello BOSUG readers,

 

  After a week lurking into your list I decided to start posting some of my thoughts. However, please let me fist introduce myself, where I am coming from and where i am trying to go.

 

My Name is Harish Sukumar I am from Bangalore currently I am working in South Australia as Systems Administrator and living in Adelaide (Australia) for the past 3 years

 

I have spent most of time as boring Windows Administrator from past 8 months I have slowly progressed my self to UNIX.

 

I love UNIX and Solaris in particular.

 

Although I am in Australia I feel more connected to my people in India

 

Since I am in Australia I would not be able to make it for the meetings and it would be greatly appreciated if you can post the points discussed on to the mailing list.

I have got a daunting task a head of me, my boss walked to me and said I 
need the following Server setup within the end of next month (30-NOV-2006)

And the project goes this way.

I need to setup e-mail access to the internet via a shared connection 
ability to host our own website, DNS and E-mail. The server will also be 
our Authentication server for logging onto the network and host our 
files and act as a print server.

I must also design and configure the backup solution. I should also 
investigate the possibility of firstly backing up the clients on the 
network.

The team who will be using this server would also like to the ability to 
store their mails on the server so they can access it from any pc on the 
LAN or even via webmail service. My e-mail solution should also provide 
Antivirus and spam checking

In all the above server task will be undertaken by one machine SUN x4100

I have to setup the server with Solaris 10 as operating system, but it 
must be able to handle windows client.

My first step is to document on how I will go about setting up each of 
this service and the software required.

Dear friends I have no idea where about I should be Starting the project 
and what services I should be configuring and in what sequence. I have 
got limited time can you please help me in this regards

I have configured Apache2 as per docs.sun.com. Can you please tell what 
services I should be configuring?

I will also be doing an extensive research for help on Google and sun 
documentation

Please do not feel that I am pushing on you guys,
